trip to Mumbai.

Hello everyone. Greetings from Mumbai!
We have successfully arrived in Mumbai from our 5 hour long flight journey.
The ride overall was a very rough one because of one of the turbulence which caused many of us some uncomfort. I also felt uncomfortable at that point of time and didn't manage to eat my dinner although it looked quite appetizing.
Settled down at our hotel at around 1am Singapore time(?) and got our room keys. Did not manage to get the wifi to work as we needed the passwords and I didn't have them.
The hotel rooms are quite decent despite the environment outside.

Upon waking up, we were welcomed with a lovely breakfast prepared by the hotel staff which was delightful and started our day right. Visited the Asha Sadan rescue home for the children and women. The people there were extremely welcoming and the kids were really friendly and cute in their own ways. Toured the orphanage for a little to an hour and we all settled down in our different groups and interacted with the children. The child i was looking after was was a really bright child. The activity we did together was coloring some pictures and he actually colored it really slowly and patiently hence the after result was a really colorful picture which I unfortunately was not able to capture a shot of.
The children and women in the home were not sad. They actually enjoyed everything that they had and they do not ask for anything else. Being born in Singapore, I MUST say that we are very very lucky.
left the home at around 12pm Mumbai time and went to a Museum which showcased many different gods of India and its history.

Having arriving at India at the correct time, we were able to witness an important event for the state which is The Ganesh immersion festival.

On day 3, we visited bollywood. Its was not as what I have expected it to be. But, the scenes there were really beautiful. Though beautiful, I find that by having so many tourists stepping into the same place for so many times might destroy the places' true nature. We also visited a recording studio where all the music for the movies were recorded at. It takes approximately 2 months to complete one sound track, so can you imagine how much time was actually needed to complete a movie? Some of our students were allowed to record their singing on the spot and they sounded really nice. Visited a dance studio where the dancers there showed us a couple of their moves which were really cool at the end of the day. Several of our students went to join in the fun by learning how to dance along with them. Went for dinner after that and went back to the hotel for a snoozzzzze.

Day 4,
All of our students were in their SOH attire today because we were visiting Garware institute that was in the campus of The Mumbai university. Got the chance to talk to some of the students there and found out that they were really busy over there with almost no time to rest because of all the studying and project work that they are required to do during and after school. Also found out that they actually needed to go to school for 6 days a week and sometimes 7 if they were returning for project work. Even though the hectic schedule, the students there still enjoyed studying there and didn't mind the hectic schedule at all. On that day, we also visited Taj hotel which was the first Five star hotel in Mumbai and it really was beautiful on the inside and the outside. Every single tile on the floor dates back to 1903(?) when the hotel was first built. It is definitely one of the best and grand hotel i have ever seen in my entire life.

On day 5, we visited the elephanta cave. It was an eye opener in there. Everything was real life stone and some were craved in such a way that it looked as if the person was really there modeling as the person was making the sculptures. After visiting the cave, we went on our city tour and visited Gandhi's house. We were able to take a look at where he was staying and about his history when we were in there.

day 6 - last day in Mumbai.
Went for an exhibition which showcased restaurant and culinary items that can be used in homes or in restaurants or in hotels. Went to EZEEGO1 online travel agency's company for a tour and I was really really grateful for the tour because now I know what happens when someone wants to travel, how the travel advisor advises them about where to go, which place they should go, at which period, at what price, etc etc. It almost gave me an inspiration of what I could be when I grow up. Went to ITC hotel for a short tour after that and we were ready to hit the airport after an Hours of shopping in a mall.

Right now I'm posting as the plane is flying. Well I can't post this up because of the lack of Internet on this plane. All in all, this trip as been very pleasant for me because I was able to learn about the culture of India and how they lived here without any single grunt of complain. Its kind of embarrassing for us to keep complaining about every single thing in Singapore when these people here are far worse off than us yet there were not upset about that fact. When I land in Singapore, I will really appreciate everything there is right in front of me.

Really miss the life there in mumbai , coming back only means that I have to deal with all the stress I have here because we are more advanced with them in some ways. Oh how I wish Singapore's life would be as carefree as India's.
